Meteor shower september 2020. The sky is in transition. The perseid meteor shower and the geminid meteor shower. At this time the moon is located near the sun and is invisible at night.
This object was well seen over germany and surrounding countries. A meteor shower is a celestial event in which a number of meteors are observed to radiate or originate from one point in the night sky called radiant these meteors are caused by streams of cosmic debris called meteoroids entering earth s atmosphere at extremely high speeds on parallel trajectories. The annular solar eclipse in june comet neowise in july and the perseid meteor shower in august put up a great show in the heavens above.
The september rho pegasids meteor shower takes place within the boundaries of the constellation of pegasus on september 20 every year. Note that the meteor shower dates do not change much from year to year though the peak of a shower may vary by a day or two. Soon it will be dominated by the winter constellations.
