Check the shower arm for a plastic seal that would have been left over from the old shower head.
How to replace a shower head. Screw on your showerhead by hand until it s snug. Wrap a cloth around the shower head and use the wrench to clamp down on its base. Then remove the old showerhead by turning it counter clockwise until it s off.
Slide the new backing onto the shower arm and wrap the open end in tape. Install your new shower head. Remember to apply the tape in a clockwise direction to avoid unwrapping it when you attach your shower head.
Replacing a bathroom showerhead is usually as easy as unscrewing the old showerhead and screwing on the new one. Remove the old shower head. Turn on the water and check for leaks.
Try turning it counter clockwise by hand first. If you plan on only replacing the shower head then just remove the old shower head using the pliers or wrench. To replace a shower head grab your adjustable wrench and slip joint pliers and check that the shower is off.
Inspect the old shower head. This video shows you the tools and technique. Use a flat head screw driver to check for the seal.
If leaks occur wrap with thread seal tape and carefully tighten with an adjustable wrench until there are no leaks. This will make unscrewing the old shower head easier. However don t worry about turning off the water supply.
